Diana P. Wood, D.M.D.

Dr. Diana Wood completed her undergraduate studies at Auburn University and achieved her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree at the University Of Alabama School Of Dentistry in 1979. While in dental school, she was inducted into OKU, the national dental honor society, and ODK, the national scholastic and leadership society. Dr. Wood was also awarded the Academy of Oral Pathology Award as an outstanding student.

Following dental school, Dr. Wood received post-doctoral training in a year-long General Practice Residency at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Wood served as a part-time faculty member for the University of Alabama School of Dentistry for over five years and while on faculty served on the admissions committee for the school. She is active in local and national dental organizations and committed to supporting her patients with current and informative patient education.

Dr. Wood started her private practice in Homewood, AL in 1980 and moved to Vestavia Hills, AL in 1993. Dr. Spooner joined the practice in 1998 and together they enjoy practicing dentistry with a caring, personal touch.

Dr. Wood is currently active in the CEREC® Study Club and is an alumnus of the Frank Spear Education study club the Seattle Study Club as well as numerous local study clubs. Photos of her restorative dentistry cases have been included in articles in a multidisciplinary dental publication. She has been a featured speaker at the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Dentistry student series for both practice management and UAB's AAWD (American Association for Women Dentists).

Professional Affiliations and Memberships include: American Dental Association, Alabama Dental Association, Birmingham Dental Association and the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Wood, a native of West Virginia, has been married to Tom Gester for twenty five years. They have two sons. They enjoy family vacations, cooking together, and gardening. Dr. Wood and her husband are involved in their local church and community organizations.
